Comments
Acquired in a large gallery in Europe, with certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Authencity confirmed by an expert in France in 2013. The French flag in 1792 was the flag used by the revolutionaries. It became official in France in 1794. London was the city that most received noblemen escaping from the French Revolution and it seems that it was also a city where Van der Puyl lived so the painting seems to show a nobleman fleeing France during the Revolution to England. This painting was auctioned as one of the "Two Brothers" or "Two Noblemen" in the past, without the connection to the French Revolution.
Requested price : $7,000
